Sergey Goloshapov

Sergei Goloshapov, was born in Moscow. Sergey graduated from Moscow Polygraph Institute, renowned Russian art school. Many of the best 20th century artists have taught there. Sergey had an opportunity to learn from legendary Dmitry Zhilinsky, Andrey Goncharov and Dmitry Bisti-just to name a few.

Sergey’s career has rocketed to the top echelon of traditional printmakers and book illustrators during his senior year in MPI. During his years in Russia Sergei has produced a huge body of work including numerous book illustrations, etchings, oil paintings, and works on paper, participated in multiple exhibitions.

In 1991 Sergei moved to New York where he continued to work as an illustrator
for North-South Publishing. In 1996 Goloshapov won number of awards for his illustrations of two Brothers Grimm books, Little Brave Taylor and Six Servants, including The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art, Spectrum4 and Communication Arts Illustration Annual. Award of Excellence

In 2011 Goloshapov was involved in a major theatre project – The Spiderman on Broadway – currently running at Foxwoods Theatre on 42nd Street in New York, where he was responsible for design of the entire cityscape rendering.

Presently Sergei is back to his printmaking studio working on a new series of prints and mixed media drawings.
